I've
been riding a motorbike for over 2 years and (fingers crossed,
touch wood and grab a rabbit's foot) still accident free.
I got my motorbike license in 1998 through a Direct
Access course.
What's a Direct Access course?
Basically when you are 21 you can do a single motor
bike test rather than having to go through a test at
17 and be restricted to 25kW for 2 years, you can theoretically
ride any motor cycle after doing this test insurance
permitting ;-)
Most Direct Access courses offer a 'Pass Guarantee' for a small
extra fee (£50 or so) which is worth doing if you've got
any doubts, I needed it as I passed 2nd time :-)
I have been riding a Kawasaki ER5 for these 2 years and even
though I would like something a bit faster (don't we all !!)
it gets me from A to B ok and it's been to the Isle of Man and
will probably visit europe before the year is out.
My ideal next bike would be a VFR or a SV I will just have to
win the lottery first! |
